ORANGE COUNTY HOUSEWIVES WORKOUT COMES TO SANTA BARBARA
This year’s season of Bravo TV’s Orange County Housewives used the Orange County Adventure Bootcamp with leader, Dr. John Spencer Ellis as one of its major storylines, and everyone is watching.
Santa Barbara has the very same Adventure Bootcamp! These bootcamps are an outdoor group exercise program for women only, originally created by Dr. John Spencer Ellis in Orange County.
Brandon Bittorf was certified as a personal trainer by Dr. Ellis’ National Exercise and Sports Trainers Association and chose Santa Barbara as the Adventure Bootcamp location last year. Dr. Ellis continues to act as a consultant for the Bittorfs.
Women of all ages and physical levels, register for either a 5-day or 3-day a week camp which meets at ___________ at 5:30 a.m., for one hour. There are currently 40 women registered for the Santa Barbara camp.
Brandon has military training through a brief career in the U.S. Marines, as a past member of the Santa Monica SWAT and the Ventura County Sheriffs Department. It would be easy to follow the pseudo military-style bootcamps, but Brandon insists that each camper works at her own pace and that the workout remains light-hearted and fun. His philosophy, “stay focused and a miracle will happen”, can be heard at every camp.
Brandon is also a professional cyclist and is currently sponsored by Evomo. Brandon and Danette also co-own Physcial Adventures with their brother Jason Anderson. Physical Adventures offers cycling classes and group exercise programs in Oxnard.
Brandon, Danette, and Jason also want to share their commitment of living a healthy and fit lifestyle with everyone. Last year they partnered with Ventura and Santa Barbara counties leading Bariatric Surgeon, Dr. Helmuth Billy, whose practice Journey Lite treats obese patients. Physical Adventures has created and maintained an affordable exercise program designed to motivate his post-operative patients.

Ventura County Man Takes Matters Into His Own Hands - Boot Camp Style!
Sound dramatic? Well, there's no drama here. What Mr. Bittorf is speaking of comes from the Centers for Disease Control, which states "poor nutrition and physical inactivity account for some 300,000 premature deaths in the United States each year." If that doesn't constitute a serial killer, Mr. Bittorf wants to know what does.
"I'm hunting these killers down in the form of prevention and education, boot camp style!" Mr. Bittorf deals with the consequence of poor nutrition and physical inactivity everyday, in the form of emergency 911 calls such as strokes, heart attacks, diabetic emergencies and the like...he's now combating such killers with his outdoor fitness program known as the Santa Barbara Adventure Boot Camp for Women.
Mr. Bittorf says, "Campers choose our boot camp because they want a jump start and results that last long-term." Meeting in the early morning for an hour a day, the Santa Barbara Adventure Boot Camp offers that jump-start to your fitness plan in a safe, supportive, fun environment.
Recent Boot Camper Lauren says, "Everyone (including me) thought I was nuts to wake up for 5:30 Boot Camp, but by the second day I was having so much fun that it was just as easy to get up early as it was to roll out of bed at 7:00 for work. My strength and endurance have drastically improved, and I am feeling more relaxed and energetic throughout the day. I'm thrilled with my results and can't wait to start my second camp!"
"The encouraging thing," Brandon Bittorf adds, "is that we are coaches not drill sergeants, so the fear of put-downs and unnecessary yelling is out the window, we learn from laughing together!" As an honorably discharged Marine and a recently retired Santa Monica SWAT Officer, Brandon knows what a real boot camp is all about, and hopes to bring his experiences to each of his campers with more little more lighthearted approach.
The camp includes a variety of exercises: jogging, resistance training, circuit training, Pilates, agility moves, and more. Other benefits are a 3-5% reduction in body fat, weight loss, 1-3 inch reduction in the midsection and a 100% increase in confidence. Beginner to advanced level participants love the program and have found that reserving their spot early by calling 805-331-7781 or logging onto www.SantaBarbaraABC.com is the way to go.
Mr. Bittorf adds, "When it comes down to it, there are plenty of fitness avenues out there, Adventure Boot Camp is just one of them; but, we're dedicated to fighting the silent serial killers with every ounce of gusto we've got!" One man, one passion, one serious vendetta against poor nutrition and physical inactivity from Businessman to Fitness Coach, this is one hero worth paying attention to!
